April started out great. The weather was nice and the Master's golf tournament was interesting.
However, the last few weeks was a little more unsettled. It's been cool and rainy. Hopefully after this latest storm system, it will be nice. In fact, the weather this weekend is supposed to be great. The course is looking good, so take advantage of the conditions to come out and have some fun.

News From the Clubhouse
The staff here at Rancho hopes everybody had a nice Easter Sunday.
The Masters, what can I say except that it was one of the best ones that I have watched. Even though my favorite golfer Phil took home the "Green Jacket" watching Freddie Couples play and to be in contention the whole weekend was worth watching, he made me remember back to a time when all golfers were polite and considerate to others. Clubs weren't thrown and cuss words were not spoken at least not where you could read them off the golfers mouths.
Congratulations to Linda Ruiz for winning our Masters contest. She won on a tie breaker as she wasn't the only one to have named Phil to win. We also want to send out a sorry but congratulations to Albert Lemos for winning second place. Linda wins 18 holes of golf for two plus cart at Rancho Sierra. Albert wins a free large bucket of balls for the driving range. Thank you to everyone for playing. It was a lot of fun see everyone guessed. Over half of the contest participants guessed Tiger Woods.
We'd like to talk a little about course etiquette as we have been receiving a lot of complaints about golfers not following the rules. Sometimes if the number one tee box is busy with more then 4 groups waiting to tee off the starter will send a group over to start on # 8 but only if there is no group coming up # 7. This decision and general course control is up to the starter and only the starter. It does not mean that anyone can just go over and start on 8. Players are also jumping from one hole to another if play is not going fast enough for them, that is not ok! We need golfers to ask the group ahead of them if they can play through, if there are empty holes ahead to do this. Also slow play is very common lately as we are starting to get new players to the course and beginners. Please remember we were all beginners at one time and be polite about asking them to let you play through. Walter Hagen once said "You're only here for a short visit. Don't hurry, don't worry stop and smell the flowers along the way."
Relax and have fun.
If we all follow a few simple basis rules everyone will enjoys the game of golf and maybe meet some new friends. The weather is starting to be enjoyable and the course is starting to get very busy in the morning, make a tee time to save yourself a spot. Have fun! Enjoy the game.
"Golf is so popular simply because it is the best game in the world in which to be bad!"

Men's Club News
Springtime in the AV is here and it’s perfect golf weather. Pedro and Rick have been working hard getting the course in shape. Punching of the greens has started so you may see some temporary greens for a while. Some areas of the course are marked off for repair. If you hit into one of these areas, please do not hit from the repair area. You are entitled to a free drop, no penalty, at the nearest point of relief, no closer to the hole. Help us keep the course in shape by using the divot mix on the tee boxes and fairways and repair your ball marks on the green.
