Rancho Sierra Golf Course
December Newsletter
In this issue ...
- News from the Clubhouse
- Tournament Recap
- Men's Club News
- Holiday Special
Hi Everyone,
The past four weeks we have seen a lot of news (and I use that word loosely) in the golf world. The #1 guy has fallen from grace. I know that not everyone is a Tiger Woods fan. His behavior on the golf course has often left something to be desired. Now that has been eclipsed by his behavior off the golf course.
But he was and still is an unbelievable golf talent. I know that many people believe he had it coming. Some of us are jealous of his fame. Some of us feel bad for his wife and children. Some of us just feel like we were fooled. Certainly his image will never be the same. I think it's unfortunate that a public figure held in such high regard by people around the world could cheat not just once but many times. I guess the human being is really a frail beast.
Anyway, enough of that. Certainly the sport of golf will continue to be an enjoyable activity.
Enjoy the newsletter and have a great Christmas and New Years. And let's all have a great 2010!
News From the Clubhouse
Well, here we are with Christmas only 11 days away. I know the weather has been one reason what with the rainy days and frost delays until 9 in the mornings makes it kind of hard to make the time to get out here. I guess the thing to do is bundle up warm and bring your umbrella with you. It certainly hasn't stopped our stalwart monthlies from playing and most of our mens club members have been out doing battle with the cold and the wind. A big thank you to those who come out on the bad weather days. It would be pretty boring here without you.
Say, are you looking for last minute gifts. We have some gift packages available and gift cards. Also bring in a $10.00 new unwrapped toy and get $10.00 off of your green fee. Finally ,for every canned food you bring in gives you a $1.00 off of range balls or a free fountain drink. The gifts and food go to those less fortunate and brightens their Christmas. It also helps the giver feel good and discover the true meaning of Christmas.
We will be closing Christmas Eve at 1:00 PM and we will be closed all together Christmas Day, the only day during the whole year that we plan in advance to close.
We here at Rancho Sierra Golf Course want to wish everyone a safe and Happy Holiday Season and all the best to our customers. We hope to see all of you in the last days of 2009 and 2010 trying out your new clubs and equipment and wear your new golfing clothes.

Men's Club News
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the Mens Club!
Don’t forget to renew your Mens Club Membership! Yearly dues is only $45 and that entitles you to all privileges of Rancho Sierra Golf Course and the Southern California Golf Association including reduced fees, special offers at other courses, a certified handicap and much, much more.
Speaking of SCGA, they will begin the conversion of the current handicap system to a nationwide GHIN system. This will allow you to post a score at any course, anywhere in the country. Your SCGA number will change also. Just put a “9” in front of your current number and that will be your new SCGA number beginning January 1. (example: current SCGA number is 123456. Your new number will be 9123456.) In order to complete the conversion, SCGA will suspend the posting of scores from December 22 until January 4.
Did you know that Rancho Sierra Golf Course now has three course ratings for 18 holes? If you play the white tees for all 18 holes, the course rating is 99. If you play the blue tees for all 18 holes, the course rating is 103. If you play the whites on the front nine and blues on the back nine (or vice versa), the course rating is 101. When posting your scores, make sure that you’re entering the correct rating so that you can obtain a correct handicap.

The election of officers for 2010 was completed on December 13. Here are the Men’s Club officers for 2010.

There are a lot of exciting things planned for 2010. In addition to the quarterly Classics and Presidents Cup, we’ve also in the process of doing an away trip to Palm Springs, a couple of two-day tournaments, and the possible return of the Club Championship! All these are still in the planning stages. We’d love to get your input on these. Talk to one of the officers or you can email us.
We would also like to hear from you on ideas for tournament games. Last month, we tried the One Man Scramble and a High-low Alternate shot format based on suggestions from Mens Club members. With all the golf experience in the Mens Club, we should be able to come up with quite a few more. Let’s hear from you!!!!!

Thanks for Your Patronage During 2009
Thanks to everyone for coming out to Rancho Sierra during what was supposed to be a recovery year. Although many businesses and individuals are still feeling the pinch, I think we are starting on the road to recovery. I am very hopeful that things will get better in 2010.
As a show of our appreciation, now through January 1st, when you buy 18 holes of golf, you get $5.00 off merchandise (food, drinks, and beer excluded). Just come into the clubhouse and mention the newsletter special.
Have a great Christmas and New Years. We hope to see you at Rancho Sierra soon!
