Introduction
This is a six week program each Saturday from July 5th though August 16th led by certified instructors John Chopp and Lloyd Barrett. We will also enlist the help of Sam Victor, a very talented player with experience working with the First Tee. The program will instill the fundamentals of the proper golf swing and etiquette. The culmination of the program is the Adult/Juniors tournament that will be held on July 23rd on Rancho Sierra Golf Course.
Benefits
Golf is a sport that can be played for a lifetime and never be mastered, hence its strong attraction and addictive nature. Golf teaches perseverance, humility, respect, integrity and honesty. It also helps build self esteem and confidence. It’s a great way for children to learn how to treat others, even if they are opponents. The Rancho Sierra Juniors Program presents a great opportunity for your children to learn a fantastic sport with loads of potential. Golf can be played through high school where scholarships can be earned for college. And if nothing else, golfers have had some of the most amazing experiences playing many different golf courses and meeting great people.
Our Purpose
Our purpose as instructors is to teach new and experienced golfers the wonderful game of golf and all of its benefits. We want your children to learn and love the game as much as we do, and above all, just have FUN!
The Program
The program will be six weeks long. Each session is 90 minutes long, from 8:30 AM until 10:00 AM every Saturday starting July 12. In the 7th week, on August 23, we will hold the 1st Annual Rancho Sierra Adult/Junior Tournament, an adult/junior 9-hole golf tournament with barbecue. Each week we will cover the fundamentals of golf from the short game to proper course etiquette. Attached is a brief schedule of each meeting. Please note the material to be covered is subject to change. If more or less time needs to be spent in certain areas, the schedule will be adjusted accordingly. This program is for juniors between the ages of 7 and 17 with limited or no golf experience. If you consider your child an intermediate or advanced golfer, please inquire about individual lessons and future programs. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact John (john@ranchosierragolf.com) or (661) 946-1080.
Our Ultimate Goal
Our goal is to help your children successfully and comfortable play golf at a regulation golf course, such as Rancho Sierra, or at a smaller course, like Lancaster Golf Center. We want to make sure your child can practice with the proper fundamentals to allow for the best possible golf experience and career, including recreational, high school, college or even the professional ranks.
The Tournament
The Rancho Sierra Adult/Junior Golf Tournament will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2008. The tournament will be open to all adult/junior teams. However, juniors who enrolled in the junior program will be free (there will be a nominal charge for the adult). The focus of this tournament is to come out and experience tournament golf, enjoy a barbecue, and have a good time. Click here for more information.
