Welcome to Fall,

Sorry the September newsletter is coming out on the last day of the month. I have been chastised for this and will try to get the newsletters out earlier.

I guess you could say that Fall has hit with a vengeance, at least with regards to the weather. With milder temperatures in August and an extremely hot September, it actually feels like were still in summer.

I'm sure it will cool down soon. Late September and October are traditionally the best time of the year to be outdoors in the Antelope Valley. So once the heat subsides, take advantage of the weather and get outside. And of course, I would recommend playing some golf.

News From the Clubhouse

Hi Everyone,

Well, we are nearly through Sept, here in the Antelope Valley time flies by so fast or so it seems must be cause everyone is so busy either working or golfing.

Speaking of golf, Saturday night, Sept 18 we held our glow ball tournament. We had 8 foursomes and a few spectators. The night started off with everyone buying raffle and 50/50 tickets then going out and playing 9 holes in the daylight.

After they finished 9 holes, we all gathered in the clubhouse for a great dinner catered by Nico's Mexican restaurant, which by the way was excellent. While eating John, Tracy and Adam did the raffling off of all the great donations from around the AV. Steer N Stein, Kwik Oil change, Desert Aire golf course, AV Country Club, Texas Cattle Company, Olive Garden, The Eagles, Charlie Browns, Whole Wheatery and that's just to name a few [Thank you very much to all our sponsors. 100% of proceeds from the raffle goes to Ronald McDonald house Charities].

We also awarded the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams along with longest drive and closest to the pin on holes 4 and 6. First place winners consisted of Eleanor Hogains, Cheo Ramsey and Chad Elam. 2nd place winners Tracy Yates, John Yates, Joey Chewning and Herman Rodriguez. 3rd place winners Kevin Sheets, Ryan Sheets, Jeff Wright and Travis Villa. Congratulations to all those who won!

With the sun gone and an almost full moon in the sky the golfers took to the course for their final 9 holes. The weather couldn't have been better if we had placed an order . It was cool with a slight breeze. Everyone had a great time. Thank you to all who participated.

I want to give a special thanks to our staff at the course for the help with the tournament we would never be able to pull it off with just a few people. It takes a whole tea. Thank you Tracy, Adam, Cody, and to John Yates.

October is around the corner and if your or anyone you know is interested in playing in our annual Halloween tournament, please sign up at the starters desk. Lets see if you are brave enough to put on a costume! We don't get many in constume. I guess it's not for the faint of heart.

Also, you can create your own tournament, for charity, to raise money for your own cause, or just for fun. If you're interested, speak with one of us in the pro shop and we can get it started. It is easy to do and a fun thing to organize and put on.

Odd Fact: Did you know electric golf carts were first introduced into the world in the late 1950's and now more then 90 percent of players in the U.S.A. ride in carts. Still, they say golf is good exercise.

Don't forget that Rancho Sierra is on twitter. Almost daily we have a secret word and if you mention that word in the clubhouse you receive something free. It's easy. All you have to do is check out www.twitter.com/ranchosierragc

Take care. We hope to see you out at Rancho Sierra soon.

Shirley
