It's been a while since we've put out a newsletter, but we're back! Let us know what you think of the course, clubhouse items, newsletters, specials - anything and we'll try to do what we can to make your experience at Rancho Sierra a great one.
So far this year, the weather has been challenging! It amazes me that June is upon us and some days, it feels like it's still winter. The course looks fantastic however, and Rick and Pedro have been doing a great job. One of their current projects is repainting the maintenance yard and the clubhouse. Let us know how it looks!
Rancho Sierra has a new golf pro in Patrick Londono. Welcome, Patrick! Patrick is a certified golf instructor, whom many of you already know. He is writing a column in our newsletters (see 'The Pro's Corner' below) and is available for private group and individual lessons, and will be offering golf clinics starting June 18th. Please sign up in the clubhouse so we know how many to expect.
Shirley and I are constantly working on adding items for sale in the clubhouse. We have some new Rancho Sierra logo shirts, and will be offering additional logo items shortly. Please don't hesitate to ask if you'd like us to stock a specific item.
Lastly, if you are thinking about holding a tournament at Rancho Sierra, don't procrastinate! Shirley has been busy booking tournaments for this year, and prime dates are filling up.
In closing, we are continually amazed and touched by the support from the Rancho Sierra community whether it be a helping hand, a referral, a suggestion, or just a kind word of encouragement. We humbly acknowledge that we cannot say thanks enough, but we've added a new section to the Rancho Sierra newsletters to give a little shout out to some of our special supporters.
Well, it's been a few months since we have put out a news letter. The weather for this time of the year is not your basic golfing weather, cold and windy more days then it has been nice. Hopefully as we approach June the weather will be more stable, warm and not windy.
We have started carrying a few new items in the pro shop. If you are looking for a nice polo shirt to wear we now have them with our Logos on them for a small sum of $24.95 they are very nice shirts if you look at all the starters they will be wearing theirs. We also have some more Hippo pull carts and a variety of Crospete golf bags. We will be carrying hats and visors with our logo on them we are just waiting for the design of our logo to be correct and then we will start ordering. If you need or would like us to carry a certain item please let us know and we will try to bring it in.
I can't emphasize enough, but now is the time to start booking a tournament before the days you want are taken. Birthdays, friends getting together, work related or for any reason. Call or visit the pro shop and we will give you the information and will work with you to put it together. We cater to as little as 15 and up to 50.
Graduation and Fathers day will be here shortly and we have gift certificates and golf packages available so make sure you don't forget that special father or some very important graduate.
Please get your friends to sign-up on our Web site so they can partake of any of our specials that we do especially their birthdays they need to be a member to get their round of golf for free.
We will be holding our annual Glow Ball tournament in August just not quite sure which Sat. The event will be posted inside the pro shop.
The Sunday, Monday and Tuesday men's club have moved their starting time to 8 and the Twilight hours have also changed they are Twilight 4:00 and Super Twilight 6:00.
Remember a good golf course is like good music or anything else, it is not necessarily a course which appeals the first time one plays it, but one which grows on the player the more frequently they visit it.
Thought for the month " Putting greens are to golf courses what faces are to portraits"
Remember you can follow us on Twitter and we now have a Facebook page. Check it out. You might see a special or two!

Identifying your Ball
Most golfers know what kind of ball they play. Most of you mark your ball so you can identify it. There is a penalty for playing a wrong ball but there are more reasons for marking your ball. You can line up your putt by using the mark on the ball. If you lose a ball out of bounds or in the water and someone finds it later, a distinguishing mark can help it get returned to its original owner. If hit into a tree, a distinguishing mark can help you identify it and save a penalty stroke. Marking your ball is easy. Take a pen or Sharpie and put your initials or a large circle or large mark in a strategic location. Do more than just dot the “I” in Titlelist. Make your mark big enough that you can identify it on the ground without having to bend over. And if somebody from an adjoining fairway starts getting near your ball, tell them in no uncertain terms to leave your ball alone and describe your marking!
If you have any questions, you can email us at RSMensgolf@aol.com or you can visit us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/RanchoSierraMensGolf
Don’t forget the ultimate golf etiquette. Respect the course, your fellow players, yourself and the game of golf.
Target shooting and golf are similar right? Actually, yes they are, and golfers everywhere need to practice their alignment as if they were a target shooter preparing for a marksman tournament. The first thing golfers must practice is aligning the club face square to the target. This is always done first, even before our body is aligned; just like a target shooter with the barrel of his gun. If we align our body first, our body, not the club face will be aligned square to the target, leaving the club face aimed in the wrong direction. The golf ball is similar to a bullet in that it only reaches the target when the barrel or the clubface is aimed. So when on the practice tee working on alignment remember clubface first, body second; this will ensure that you will reach your target.
